Push Championships/October Update

Hey everyone I hope you are all doing great headed into the weekend, well except you Evil Closet Monkey! You Sir are no friend of mine....no friend indeed!! lol

Now where did I leave off at? Oh ok I remember Just as the mighty warriors enter the cave to the forbidden abyss a thousand year old smell of brimstone and sulphate rose from the caverns floor, but behind this stench was the army of the......Sorry wrong story!

Ok so we had our Push Championships Out in Lake Placid two weeks ago and I am happy to say that testing went pretty good for me. I finished in fith place about .06 or so out of third in the push championships and had the third fastest time to the 15meter eye out of 22 guys that tested. I would have done the same in the combine test however my left bicep was bothering me so I did not do the Clean so I left points on the table. The good thing about the combine though is that my strength has never really been questioned and it is basically a given that I would have cleaned the 160 k (and the coaches know it) for the points I needed placing me in the top 5 of the combine test as well. Now is that a bit cocky, yeah maybe but its also the truth and sometimes you need to be confident in your abilities. I am also pleased with the fact that I fixed some technique issues with my pushing that really paid off that the coaches and everyone noticed immediately when I was pushing and running behind the sled. The best part about it is that I know I can go faster, since I know the new position is good now I just need to get a lil more comfortable with it, letting my speed and power do the rest.

However, I am a lil disappointed in the fact that I did not sprint as fast as I could have, because I was running faster in Colorado Springs then what I tested in Placid. I blame some of that on flying in the day before testing (Not Smart) and not being fully warmed up when I ran, but that's on me still and not a mistake I will make again.

After Push Champs I flew back to Colorado Springs for a week or so to get my things packed up and stored away out there, now as of yesterday I am back in Lake Placid Preparing for Team Trials (Nov 11-29 Lake Placid, NY)

Team trials will be a lil different this year since a few of the veteran drivers retired leaving Steve Holcomb (USA 2010 Gold Medalist) and John Napier (2010 Olympian) as the only two veteran drivers with about 4 upcoming drivers in the wings. The twist is that Napier is also in the Army program and is over in Afghanistan but will be back for the Park City, UT Dec 6-11. What this means for me is that since I did not finish in the top 3 over all I am now fighting for the alternate spot on USA 1 and to do that I need to race in Team Trials and push great with one of the upcoming drivers in both two-man and four-man. Then when ever Napier comes back I will most likely be added to USA 2 for the remainder of the first half onto second half World Cup.

The good thing is though I am feeling great, my bicep is feeling great, my legs are great, and I am a lil bit slimmer at 217 and JB is ready and I am in this until 2014!

Thank you all for your constant prayers and support! I am still working on getting a new camera.

P.S I am in need of some financial sponsors so if you know of any possibilities please send them my way, I have a 501 c 3 set up

Sincerely

Jesse
